Nio Gate
The gate structure greets visitors with its imposing Nio guardian statues and substantial timber framing.
The wooden Niōmon gate, with its thick pillars and substantial roof, is a structure that stands out for its powerful presence characteristic of temple architecture. Inside the gate stand the A-shaped and Un-shaped Niō guardian deities, whose taut muscles and expressions convey a forceful aura that wards off evil. As the focal point of the approach path, it is a place where visitors can sense the worldview of Buddhist architecture and faith before stepping into the temple grounds.
