Prefectural Treasure: Former Nenraiji Temple Bell Tower
The precious bell tower architecture remaining in the castle town
The bell tower of the former Nenrai Temple, built in 1705. Characterized by its elegant hip-and-gable roof and hakamakoshii (hip-and-gable with a hip extension) style, its details reveal Edo period construction techniques and design elements throughout. After Nenrai Temple was abandoned, only the bell tower remained and has been carefully preserved to this day.Designated as a Matsumoto City Important Cultural Property in 1969 and a Nagano Prefectural Treasure in 2012, it stands as a valuable structure conveying the region's history and faith to the present day.
