Komuro Nanokayama Konpira Shrine Approach Stone Buddha Group
Stone Buddha Path Lined with Prayers for Recovery
Along the approach to Komuro Nanokayama Konpira Shrine stand stone Buddhas and monuments erected mainly during the Edo period, preserved today as a cohesive group of stone statues. Offered by devotees alongside their Konpira faith, these statues embodied prayers for safety and wishes. Among them, some gained fame for healing chronic illnesses, attracting deep devotion.Quietly standing along the mountainside, each statue creates a place where the accumulation of prayers becomes increasingly palpable as one advances along the approach. This is a precious historical site that conveys the faith and daily lives of Matsumoto's people to the present day.
