Ōmiya Atsuta Shrine

The history dating back to the early Kamakura period lives on in the elegant architecture.

Omiya Atsuta Shrine, founded in the early Kamakura period as a guardian deity benefiting from the waters of the Azusa River. Its main hall, built in the late Muromachi period (1570–1573), features an elegant one-bay nagare-zukuri style with an impressive cedar shingle roof. Characterized by its cylindrical approach pillars, it was designated a National Important Cultural Property in 1949.During

the annual festival held April 28–29, floats are drawn out from five districts, and the traditional lion dance is dedicated at the Kagura Hall.
