Two boys escape from a freight train bound for a concentration camp. Exhausted, they make their way toward Prague, but along the way, they are captured by a group of elderly men who appear to be a vigilante squad...
The source material is the same novel by Rustik as *A Bite of Bread*, titled *There Are No Shadows in the Dark*. As the director states, having been influenced by Luis Buñuel and Alain Resnais, the film uses stimulating visuals—where flashbacks and the interplay between reality and inner thoughts intertwine like a mosaic—and a sense of tension that permeates the entire film to question the cruelty of humanity and the world itself.
