Matsumoto City Clock Museum
Time transcends The old clock ticks away the hours
The Matsumoto City Clock Museum preserves and displays the antique clock collection assembled over a lifetime by Mr. Chikazo Honda. Since opening in 2002, it has conveyed the culture of time, symbolized by Japan's largest pendulum clock. The
tick-tock sound of pendulums echoes throughout the museum. The winding of springs, the turning of gears—these nostalgic, warm sounds are heard precisely because many clocks are displayed in working condition. Approximately 110 timepieces narrate the history they have marked through their respective eras.Original animations and a listening corner featuring phonographs and SP records allow visitors to experience the atmosphere of each era through both sight and sound. From
Showa to Heisei, and now Reiwa. At the Matsumoto City Clock Museum, why not experience time not standing still, but flowing steadily?
