"The Revived Voice" Matsumoto Cinema Select Screening

Co-directed by 90-year-old filmmaker Park Su-nam and his daughter, Park Mai

A documentary that meticulously records the stories of the voiceless, buried in history

Produced using 16mm film footage that Park Su-nam has been shooting for nearly 40 years. It portrays the untold stories of Koreans who suffered from the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, forced laborers taken to Gunkanjima in Nagasaki, former Korean military personnel from the Battle of Okinawa, and women forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military. It meticulously unearths memories and historical facts that have been swallowed up by the tides of time, shedding light on truths that many people have overlooked. This is not merely a record of the past; it is deeply intertwined with the challenges we face today.
