The 1975 Cologne Concert: Matsumoto Cinema Select Screening
A coming-of-age musical film that depicts the behind-the-scenes story leading up to the concert given by world-renowned jazz pianist Keith Jarrett at the Cologne Opera House in Germany on January 24, 1975, through the eyes of an 18-year-old female promoter.
Vera Brandes, a music-loving high school student living in Cologne, Germany, begins a part-time job booking tours for visiting musicians, partly out of rebellion against her strict father. Just as her work begins to take off thanks to her natural vitality, she attends a jazz festival in Berlin and is deeply moved by a performance by the American piano prodigy Keith Jarrett.Determined to bring Keith to Cologne, she overcomes numerous obstacles to make the concert happen. However, on the day of the performance, a problem arises: the piano provided is a different model than the one Keith had requested. With the start time fast approaching, Keith refuses to play, and the concert hangs in the balance...
