Main Hall of Yasaka Shrine Matsumoto City Designated Cultural Property
The historic thatched-roof main hall
The main hall of Yasaka Shrine, located in Satoyama-be, Matsumoto City, is a thatched-roof wooden shrine hall dating from the mid-Edo period (around 1744). It is registered as a City-designated Tangible Cultural Property. Its thatched roof and the imposing structure of the three-bay nagare-zukuri style are highly valuable in the history of shrine architecture, representing one of the few remaining examples in the Matsumoto Plain. During restoration work in the Heisei era, the original ridge plaque from the time of its construction was discovered.Alongside the history of the surrounding Satoyamabe district, it is a precious cultural asset that conveys the region's faith and landscape to the present day.
