The Water Deity Faith of Usukawa, Woven from Twelve Centuries of History
Susuki-mizu Shrine was granted the rank of Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade by the Imperial Court in 867. It enshrines the deity of the Usukawa River, Takeminakata-no-Mikoto, and Susanoo-no-Mikoto, and has long been revered as the founding deity of the Yamabe region.
