Matsumoto City Museum 120th Anniversary Special Exhibition
120 Years of Love for the Museum
The Journey Toward the Opening of the New Museum and the Citizens’ Hopes
September 21 is “Matsumoto City Museum Day.” On that day in Meiji 39, Matsumoto’s first museum was established.
Since then, while changing its name and location, it has continued to carry out activities deeply rooted in the community alongside its citizens, evolving into today’s Matsumoto City Museum.
To commemorate the founding of the Matsumoto City Museum, this special exhibition looks back on its 120-year history as a place of learning for “citizens who play a role in passing on the region’s cultural assets to future generations.”
