Inagane Dam
One of the three Azusa River dams
Inagane Dam is one of three dams located downstream on the Azusa River—Inagane, Suido, and Nagawatari—and was constructed and completed in the 1960s. It is the smallest dam, situated at the farthest downstream point.
The dam lake also serves as a regulating reservoir for the Shiden Power Plant upstream. Surrounded by steep-sided gorges, it creates a distinctive landscape. The surrounding area boasts a rich natural environment, offering diverse scenery throughout the seasons. Autumn is particularly renowned as a foliage spot, with vibrant colors against the dam lake flowing past car windows. The intake
for the Ryujima Power Plant downstream and the waterway to the Hada district are also present, achieving a balance between regional power supply and natural scenery.
