Yokoo Campground
The starting point for serious mountaineering: the campground in the inner reaches of Kamikochi
Yokoo Campground, stretching along the Azusa River, is located about a 3-hour walk from the Kamikochi Bus Terminal and is the most remote campground in Kamikochi. It serves as a crucial base for climbers heading to any of the three mountains—Mt. Yarigatake, Karasawa, and Mt. Chogatake—as it's the junction point for the hiking trails leading to all three. No reservation is required for easy access. While it provides water facilities and restrooms, it does not have permanent tents, cooking areas, or showers. Enjoy
the close proximity of Mt. Maehodaka and the stunning starry sky. Start your authentic mountain journey from this very spot.
