Okamiya Shrine
The chief guardian deity of Northern Fukashi, revered by successive feudal lords
Okamiya Shrine, descended from Suwa Grand Shrine, has been revered since the Edo period as the chief guardian shrine of Kitafukashi, receiving devotion from successive lords of the Matsumoto domain.
The current main hall was donated by Lord Mizuno Tadatsugu in 1663 and preserves the architectural style of that era.Another highlight is the mikoshi portable shrine, designated as an Important Cultural Property of the city. When
visiting Matsumoto Castle, we recommend also visiting this shrine, which laid its foundation, to gain a deeper connection with history.
