National Treasure Bridge Living Room 5: Experiencing History
This is a social experiment to turn Kaichi Street—which connects two National Treasures, Matsumoto Castle and the Former Kaichi School—into a pedestrian-only zone, transforming the street into a space where people can gather and spend time.
From Matsumoto Castle, dating back to the Edo period, to the former Kaichi School, built during the Meiji era.
Aiming to create a space where visitors can experience the atmosphere spanning the Edo, Meiji, and Taisho eras, we’ll organize a day where people can gather and interact under the theme of an “outdoor living room,” featuring markets and cultural events.
This time, we will launch new initiatives such as “The Town’s Vegetable Shop,” where children sell vegetables and fruits sourced from local farmers, and “Bridge to Everyday Life,” in which Matsumoto University students photograph and share scenes of daily life in the community. Additionally, 34 market stalls and 6 food trucks will be set up, and visitors can enjoy a variety of hands-on activities and performances.

・“The Town’s Vegetable Stand”: Connecting Children with the Community
Held at the Kaichi Elementary School rotary, children will sell vegetables and fruits sourced from local farmers and others.
Sales are scheduled for three times: 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. We hope that the children’s participation will encourage
we hope parents and community members will come by, fostering intergenerational exchange.
・“Bridge of Everyday Life”: Documenting Local Life with Matsumoto University Students
This is an initiative in which Matsumoto University students collaborate with local residents to photograph and document the local scenery, people, and scenes of everyday life.
We plan to share the photos and our thoughts on the community via Instagram and other platforms, and are also considering compiling them into a booklet.
Our goal is not to let this event end as a one-day affair, but to continue conveying the charm of everyday life in the community.
