A ensemble drama by the renowned Belgian filmmakers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne—known for films such as *The Child* and *The Kid with a Bike*—depicting the lives of five young mothers living in a shelter for mothers and children.
Five young women—Jessica, Perla, Ariane, Julie, and Naima—live together at a facility that supports women who became pregnant at a young age. With no one to turn to and burdened by various problems such as poverty and violence, they become mothers while feeling lost, troubled, and unable to envision the kind of family they should strive for.Though on the verge of being swallowed by overwhelming loneliness, these young women—who yearn to “love”—are occasionally supported by others as they each choose the path they must walk.
Lucas Don, director of *CLOSE*, is listed as a co-producer. The film was entered in the Competition section at the 78th Cannes International Film Festival in 2025, where it won the Best Screenplay Award and the Ecumenical Jury Prize.
