Visit Matsumoto

This event aims to allow visitors from Japan and abroad to experience the course—which encapsulates the essence of hill climb racing—and the lush, majestic beauty of the Utsukushigahara Highlands. Through this cycling race, we seek to promote Matsumoto City and the starting venue at Asama Onsen, while also revitalizing the local community and boosting its vitality through initiatives that actively involve local residents.

The course spans 21.6 km with an elevation gain of 1,270 m and an average gradient of 5.9%. In particular, the approximately 2-km “steep climb” section that appears early on (shortly after the start) is a challenging stretch with a maximum gradient exceeding 20%. Despite its difficulty, the thrill of tackling this climb attracts many participants from across the country.

Support buses will be operating for the 2026 Tour de Utsukushigahara Highlands Cycling Race.
