Starting last weekend until June 3rd at the new Shinmai Media Garden, see an impressive display of world heritage sites constructed completely out of Lego bricks! The exhibition features sites from all over the world, including many places in Japan like famous temples and shrines as well as Mt. Fuji.

My personal favorites were the Itsukushima Shrine, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Colosseum, and the various European cathedrals. There were even miniature versions of entire townscapes! All the sculptures are built with painstaking detail as to mirror the real-life structure.

Colosseum

Kinkakuji Temple in Kyoto

Lean Tower of Pisa and two cathedrals behind it

Town hall and Roland statue in Bremen

Pyramids

And the cutest creation had to be the pandas!

As you walk around the exhibition area, a huge projector screen plays a video of all the world heritage in the background so you can see the real thing.

You can’t touch the Lego sculptures, but you are free to take as many photos as you wish. For those who do want to get their hands on some Lego blocks, there is a play area where you can freely construct with Legos (interestingly, all the blocks are white) and a Lego shop just in front of the exhibition entrance that sells Lego sets and Lego key chains.
