Despite its somewhat smaller population, Matsumoto’s large number of bars has earned it the nickname « Bar City » around Japan. One of the city’s pioneering bars is Main Bar Coat near the station.
Main Bar Coat is on the second floor of a traditional kura-style storehouse and once you climb up the stairs and walk in the door, you’ll find an authentic bar steeped in a classic ambience.
Main Bar Coat has an immense collection of liquor from around the world 700 kinds of whiskey (mostly single malt). The owner and award-winning bartender, Mr. Hayashi, can whip up just about any kind of cocktail you can imagine. There’s even a Matsumoto special: the Matsumoto Breeze!
