Despite its somewhat smaller population, Matsumoto’s large number of bars has earned it the nickname «Bar City» around Japan. One of the city’s pioneering bars is Main Bar Coat near the station.
Main Bar Coat is on the second floor of a traditional kura-style storehouse and once you climb up the stairs and walk in the door, you’ll find an authentic bar steeped in a classic ambience.
Main Bar Coat has an immense collection of liquor from around the world 700 kinds of whiskey (mostly single malt). The owner and award-winning bartender, Mr. Hayashi, can whip up just about any kind of cocktail you can imagine. There’s even a Matsumoto special: the Matsumoto Breeze!
