A quiet morning in Matsumoto
I just recently got my bicycle fixed, so I decided to use it and cycle around the town a little on my free morning.
It is the end of August, this means that typhoons are beginning to be an appear. If you are in Japan during this time of the year you might be faced with a lot of rain. In reality it hasn’t rained a lot yet in Matsumoto.
However, the weather has started to cool down and there is a refreshing breeze in the evening.
The first place I wisited is Fukashi Shrine. It is never too crowded so it’s a nice place to take a walk! In reality, I wanted to get some water from the well, but I discovered that there is no well nearby, and I remembered incorrectly!
The next place I went is fruit and vegetable shop nearby (タニ屋商店 ) to find seasonal fruit. I found this peach, which is not a peach but another fruit. The owner recommended to eat it while it’s still a bit hard and not to wait too long. I don’t remember the name of the fruit!
Then I went is Agata no Mori. Agata no mori is a wide public garden quite central to the city (20 minutes on foot from the station, more or less). There are tables to enjoy a pic nic, and a small pond too. You can enjoy different views in Japanese garden and this park is wide enough for you to always find a quite corner you like!
Near Agata no Mori I found this cafe, so I decided to go inside
This cafe (陽気茶房 Café Joyous)isn’t visited by tourists because it’s not on a central road, but you are welcome to go if you are nearby!
It’s a quiet cafe, they roast their own beans and the owner plays a selection of music from the seventies and eighties in the background.
In the picture you can see a cheese toast!
Cheese toasts are a typical item at retro cafes in Japan!
I enjoyed a quiet time here.
I finally refilled my bottle at the well before going home!
This is what a normal morning in Matsumoto looks like.
If you visit, why don’t you try this every day life itinerary?
