Today I went to Masamura Tea Room for my coffee break!
My impression is that most people in Matsumoto know Masamura, and consider it a special shop.
The most appreciated item is cream pufffs, in different varieties, especially the very small ones (baby cream puffs).

Bringing Masamura cream puffs as a present when visiting someone will always receive a positive reaction, this is how dearly beloved this shop is to the people of Matsumoto!

Today I decided to order a cake and enjoy it with coffee inside the shop. 
They offer a cake set for 990 JPY (cake of choice and drink).

I have to say I do not eat a lot of sweets in Japan, and these short cakes are something I normally see at birthday parties. If you are attending a dinner or visiting someone, bringing short cakes is also well appreciated. It had been a long time since I had eaten cake, and this dessert was really nice.

I saw a lot of customers order cream puffs or buy cookies to bring to Tokyo as omiyage from Matsumoto.

I would say that what makes Masamura special is how well appreciated it is and I would recommend paying a visit, as it is near the train station wher most hotels are.
