The cherry blossom season began on April 1st and Matsumoto city held its annual “Yo-zakura-kai” from Apr. 4th – 11th. The beautiful trees were in full bloom last weekend and people were enjoying the good weather with picnics, walks and other outdoor activities. Matsumoto Castle, Koboyama and the Susuki River are all great places to see the colorful cherry trees and take part in the fun.
It’s not too late to experience this wonderful event, as the higher elevation trees of the city are in full bloom about a week later. For this, you can head to Joyama Park, Alps Park or even higher elevations.
