This is the debut feature film by Malaysian “cinematic drifter” Lim Kah Wai, marking the beginning of his career. It depicts the bizarre fate of a man who returns to his hometown after a decade only to find that his family has forgotten him and he is falsely accused of murder.As the protagonist—who was supposed to be dead—reappears and the past and present intertwine, the story takes on an unsettling intensity. Independently produced with a multinational cast, this film is a pivotal work that paved the way for the later “Stateless Trilogy.” Starring Masamasa Otsuka, this unique mystery is vividly brought back to life in a digitally remastered edition.
