October was a really warm month this year. We are finally seeing the red leaves in town only now.
However this post is not about the red leaves. I want to talk about a gallery I visited recently!

You are probably thinking that in Matsumoto there are a lot of art exhibitions. You are right, Matsumoto is known to be a city where artists gather!

Today’s artist is J.
J is originally from Tokyo, he arrived in Matsumoto 10 years ago.

Currently he is an emerging visual artist and DJ in Matsumoto.
Ever since he was a little child, drawing was the only way to keep him calm, and he never quit drawing, but he continued evolving and challenging himselves with new techniques.

His first exhibition was at a shop called Navy. Back then he drew manga on paper.
Five years ago he took on canvas, and this is finally his first long exhibition running for almost a month here at Shioribi.

His art is “your companion for waking up”, thus the name of the gallery “Despierta Mi Amigo”.

His message: Do not pay too much attention to the gallery, just take the chance to make friends.

The host of the gallery is Shioribi, a known and loved cafe in town, where you can enjoy coffee and sweets, and buy art books.
