Matsuka

Matsuka is an unagi (eel) restaurant in a traditional Japanese building. Big, beautiful flowers will welcome you at the entrance. The price depends on how many pieces of unagi you order. An „unagi-don“ (about ¥3,000) is two pieces over rice in a bowl and the „unagi bento“ (about ¥5,000) is three pieces served in a lacquered lunch box over rice. Both come with soup and pickles. That may sound expensive, but it is worth eating at least once! The charcoal-grilled unagi is very tender, thick, and glazed with a good layer of sauce. We recommend that you arrive by 11:00 a.m., otherwise the unagi will be sold out!

The restaurant was founded in 1868 (first year of the Meiji period) and is usually packed with customers.
