Established in 1887. A small, intimate hot spring inn for adults with just 8 rooms, now under the 20th-generation owner. Recommended are the tatami-floored private baths with 100% natural, free-flowing spring water, and the three exclusive guest rooms featuring semi-open-air baths adjoining the bedroom. The alkaline simple spring water, known for its skin-beautifying properties, gently envelops the skin. Both breakfast and dinner are served in your room, featuring innovative Japanese and Western cuisine centered around fermentation and utilizing local ingredients. The in-house gallery displays antique art passed down through generations. Must-see pieces include a hand-painted hanging scroll by the Matsumoto feudal lord himself and the "Old Map of Matsumoto Castle" (circa 1713), which served as the original blueprint for the restoration of the National Treasure "Taiko Gate" of Matsumoto Castle. This historical map is the world's oldest in its original size. You can also admire hanging scrolls by the Japanese painter "Saigō Koketsu," a native of Matsumoto City and one of the Four Heavenly Kings under the tutelage of Hashimoto Gahō. Room service dining, private baths, and an art museum-like atmosphere promise quiet luxury and unique experiences. This quiet hot spring inn, known for its beautiful skin and history, offers a special private space unlike other lodgings, healing both body and mind.
