Founded in 1929, the restaurant has been operating for nearly 90 years as a specialist in meat cuisine. Previously located near Matsumoto Castle, the restaurant has been relocated near the Matsumoto Bus Terminal. The famous restaurant, previously known as Folk Art Restaurant Ikekuni (Mingeishokujidokoro Ikekuni), features a newly designed interior and exterior decor.
The menu has also changed slightly. Hishimabushi (an original recipe beef dish) has been added. The evening set meal has been replaced with a gorgeous course menu suitable for gatherings, but the lunch menu still offers a variety of other options, including a daily special.
The beef and horsemeat, selected personally by the owner, garners praise even from notable people who have visited Matsumoto. In particular, the shabu-shabu and sukiyaki dishes are very popular items on the menu. Of course, as a renowned meat specialty restaurant, they are very particular about using domestic beef and not using frozen ingredients. The luxurious meat can be enjoyed raw. They are particularly proud of their marbled horsemeat dish, and their horsemeat can be eaten raw like sashimi (Umasuki). In the fall, the mushroom hot pot is also another popular choice.
