In celebration of Matsumoto Castle Day on November 10, National Treasure Matsumoto Castle Week returns once again this year.
Throughout the event, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of programs that showcase the history, culture, and traditions surrounding Matsumoto Castle, one of Japan's five National Treasure castles. Special events include the opening of the historic Taikomon Gate, an autumn tea ceremony, traditional taiko drum performances, and a ceremonial kyudo (Japanese archery) tournament.
A special highlight this year focuses on Château de Chambord in France, which entered into a sister-castle partnership with Matsumoto Castle in April 2026. During the week, the Taikomon Gate will host the special exhibition "Matsumoto Castle and Château de Chambord", exploring the connection between the two historic castles.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase a limited-edition souvenir, the "Magic Pochette", a special clear folder featuring both castles in a unique design that reveals their images in a magical way.
Additional attractions include a beautiful chrysanthemum exhibition and a commemorative panel display celebrating the 150th anniversary of the former Kaichi School building, a National Important Cultural Property.
Don't miss this special opportunity to experience the beauty, history, and traditions of Matsumoto Castle.
