The Norikura Echo Line will open again this year on July 1, 2026.
The mountain road connecting Norikura Kogen in Matsumoto City to Tatamidaira on Mt. Norikura (Nagano Prefectural Route 84) is known as the Norikura Echo Line.
At an elevation of 2,716 meters on the border between Nagano and Gifu Prefectures, it is the highest point in Japan that can be reached by public transportation vehicles. The Echo Line is also known as the highest prefectural road in Japan accessible by vehicles.
Due to private vehicle restrictions, private cars are not permitted on the road.
Only buses, taxis, bicycles, and authorized vehicles are allowed.

July 1 – October 31, 2026
※The road may be closed due to severe weather or snowfall.
【Information for July 1】
Due to falling rocks, all buses on the Norikura Route will turn back at Daisekkei on July 1.
As a result, bus service between Daisekkei and Tatamidaira will be suspended for the entire day.
The reopening date of the affected road section has not yet been decided.
