~Explore Three Countries, Three Stages, and Three Generations to Your Heart’s Content!~

As part of the “Theater, Dance, and Music” category of the “East Asia Culture City 2026 Matsumoto” initiative, this project aims to let children enjoy the cultures of Japan, China, and South Korea through puppet shows!

At Theater Park on the second floor of the Art Museum, various puppet shows will be performed on “Pink, Blue, and Yellow” stages inspired by the colors of the East Asia logo.

Additionally, after the Theater Park events conclude, ticketed performances will begin in the Small Hall. These performances are geared slightly more toward adults and feature wordless productions that can also be enjoyed by people with hearing impairments.

<Japan>

Kuroda Ningyoza: “The Courtesan of Naruto in Awa: The Junrei-uta Scene”

A traditional puppet theater said to have been performed for over 300 years since the Genroku era. The sad reunion of a parent and child who have been separated is brought to life through the seamless collaboration of the puppeteer, the narrator (tayu), and the shamisen player.

<China>

China Acrobatic Art Troupe: “Face-Changing”

With a history spanning over 300 years, this art form has been passed down as a secret tradition from father to son. The secret art of “face-changing”—in which multiple masks are switched in an instant right before your eyes—is a must-see.

<South Korea>

Sangsafa Theater Company: “Puppet Fantasy”　

Set to Korean music, celestial maidens, cranes, and flower spirits dance gracefully, while an old man performs comically. There will also be a segment where the audience can participate.

In addition, we have puppet shows, workshops, and performances in the small hall scheduled.
