Admiring Ice Waterfall in Norikura Highland
Matsumoto City Museum of Art
Upon arriving in Matsumoto, start with the Matsumoto City Museum of Art, which will
stimulate your senses. Exhibits include works by Yayoi Kusama, a globally acclaimed
artist originally from Matsumoto. Additionally, there are commemorative exhibition rooms
featuring works by Shinzan Kamijo, a calligrapher from Matsumoto, and Kazuo Tamura, a
Western-style painter who loved the mountains and nature of Shinshu.

National Treasure Matsumoto Castle Projection Mapping
Next, take a stroll along Nawate Street and head to the Yohashira Shrine. This shrine enshrines the four deities of Japanese mythology: Ame-no-Minakanushi-no-Kami, Takami-Musubi-no-Kami, Kami-Musubi-no-Kami, and Amaterasu-Omikami. Each deity possesses very high divine virtues, and the shrine is known as the 'God of Wishes,' where all wishes come true. Let's recharge at one of the top power spots in the prefecture!

National Treasure Matsumoto Castle
After recharging your energy, head to the National Treasure Matsumoto Castle. Matsumoto Castle is the oldest existing five-tiered, six-story keep. With its beautiful black and white exterior and a view of the Northern Alps to the west, it’s one of Japan’s top scenic spots – don’t forget your camera!

Matsumoto Castle Projection Mapping
When the sun sets, it’s time for the main event, the "Matsumoto Castle Projection Mapping." Every evening from 6:00 PM, projection mapping illuminations are displayed. This year, additional illumination spots have been added, making the experience even more spectacular. Enjoy the fantastic sight of Matsumoto Castle, different from its daytime appearance!

Admiring Ice Waterfall in Norikura Highland
From Matsumoto Station, take a train and bus to reach Norikura Highland in about 1 hour
and 30 minutes, where you can enjoy "Snowshoe Trekking"!
The soft, fresh snow feels like "walking on clouds!" The two ice waterfalls,
"Sanbondaki" and "Zengoro Falls," are truly breathtaking.
