Fukashi Shrine is dedicated to the deities Takeminakata-no-Mikoto and Sugawara no Michizane. Founded in 1339 by Ogasawara Sadamune, it served as the chief guardian shrine of Minami-Fukashi during the Edo period and was revered by successive lords of the Matsumoto domain. , a pure air caresses your cheeks.Affectionately and respectfully called "Fukashi Tenjin-sama" (Lord Tenjin of Deep Aspirations) by the people, this shrine reveals different expressions with each season. During the winter Setsubun Festival, evil spirits are driven away. At the summer Tenjin Festival, the mikoshi (portable shrine), designated a Matsumoto City Important Cultural Property and donated by feudal lord Mizuno Tadanori in 1698, parades splendidly through the streets.At the Yasaka Festival, children offer five-colored banners praying for health and safety, making it clear this shrine lives alongside the people of the castle town.
