【National Treasure Matsumoto Castle】 Built approximately 400 years ago
, Matsumoto Castle is counted among Japan's five National Treasure castles. Having overcome major renovations and the threat of abandonment, many parts still retain their original structure and materials from the time of construction. The connection between Matsumoto Castle and taiko drums is the "Taiko Gate (reconstruction)", the main gate to the castle's Ninomaru (Second Bailey). Its name originates from the practice of beating drums atop the gate's tower to signal the time in an era without clocks.
Furthermore, the Matsumoto Castle Taiko Festival is held annually at the end of July, where taiko teams from across Japan gather to showcase their powerful performances. Matsumoto is the perfect place to experience Japanese taiko.
【Enter the World of Japanese Drums】 Our Japanese drum
experience is led by an instructor with 30 years of expertise, who will carefully explain the basics and guide you into this powerful world. The greatest charm of Japanese drums is undoubtedly their deep, resonant sound and their simplicity. The sound of Japanese drums, often likened to the beating of the heart, seems to make you feel excited and happy just by listening, doesn't it? Forget about the difficult parts; just give it a try and start drumming freely.
